Hampton Primary School in Fitzgerald Avenue in Herne Bay has been forced to close because of a third covid outbreak.

It will be closed to all pupils from Monday 30th November with classes expected to resume on Monday 14th December although in a letter to parents today (27th November) the Headteacher, Ms Yvonne Nunn, states, "Please bear in mind this date remains fluid depending on any further confirmed cases and it may be that this closure is extended until the end of term".

Having already had outbreaks in year 3 and year 5, a further outbreak in the Foundation Stage resulted in the school seeking the advice of Public Health England who agreed to the whole school closure.

The letter to parents also says that it is expected that children will access remote learning online which will be uploaded daily by class teachers to the class pages, Dojo or Tapestry. Those pages can also be used to communicate with class teachers.  Parents are also being asked to email the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) and the FLO (Family Liaison Officer) with any concerns. The school wil also be emailing Free School Meal vouchers to those families entitled to benefits related Free School Meals.

Ms Nunn goes on to write, "I understand how incredibly difficult this may be for some families but this circuit breaker is now essential to keep each other safe and hopefully allow our families to have a healthy Christmas with safe bubbles".
