A man was freed from his car this morning (30th April 2018) after becoming trapped by a falling tree.
The incident occurred at around 7am in Canterbury Road, Herne – between Curtis Wood Park Road and Curtis Wood Road – when the man became trapped by a tree which fell in the strong winds and hit the car he was travelling in.
Firefighters used cutting gear to remove the roof of the vehicle and free the man, who was then treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service before being transported to hospital.
The tree, which was completely blocking the road, was removed by a tree surgeon soon after the incident.
Kent Fire & Rescue’s Service Delivery Manager for Community Safety, Prevention and Protection Robert Groombridge said: "With heavy rain and strong winds set to continue throughout the day, we are urging motorists to take extra care on the roads, check your route before setting off and make sure to drive to the weather conditions. Please make sure you have your lights on and you keep your speed down."
