My DJ career started out in Nov 1969 at UKC Radio in Canterbury. I stayed there for over 4 years, at the same time doing mobile discos on campus in East Kent. I was then invited to take over the residency of the Soundhouse Disco (Hawkinge) for fourteen months in May 1973. At the age of 60 I took up the mobile work again and I have since done many wedding receptions, birthdays, retirement parties and also some corporate work.
I was an avid fan of offshore radio and American radio from the 60’s and early seventies. I never lost my interest in music and I have built up a huge knowledge of music going back 80 years. My specialist genres are US, UK and the Dutch Top 40 of the Sixties, plus Northern Soul, Mod music and Disco (70s-early 80s). As a DJ I also actively follow current trends too.
I believe that the future of local radio is Community Radio. I care about local issues and look forward to helping strengthen the Community spirit in Herne Bay.
